Design and Optimization Strategies to Mitigate Voltage Noise from Synchronous Buck Converter

Synchronous buck converter is known as a significant noise source that causes various interferences to the sensitive signals. The switching voltage regulator noise can both conduct and radiate to other nets, which may lead to unreliable booting and communication errors. In this paper, we analyze two important mechanisms of the switching power noise. The paper proposes general physical design criteria to mitigate the power noise level before, during or after the development cycle. The proposed design techniques are developed and verified through both simulations and measurements on practical products.
