Innovative Silicone Film Adhesives
Keywords: silicone, adhesives, film
Silicone adhesives are used in applications that require a material that will absorb stress incurred when bonding materials that have different coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) and will be exposed to elevated temperatures. Traditionally silicone liquid adhesives are used and perform well in these applications however they require care when dispensing to maintain the bond line thickness and require additional time to cure where the part can not be moved to ensure the bonded parts stay aligned while the adhesive is still liquid. A unique alternative to liquid adhesives are silicone film adhesives. These offer great adhesion while eliminating the need to dispense and waiting for the liquid to cure since they are solid in the uncured state. This presentation will discuss the benefits and drawbacks of a silicone film adhesive.
