Message from the IMAPS 2002 General Chair
I cordially invite you to the Microelectronics Gold Rush at the 35th International Symposium on Microelectronics in Denver, September 3-6, 2002. This will be the 35th Anniversary of the Symposium and Exhibition on Microelectronics and I encourage you to attend this Premier event. The IMAPS 2002 Steering Committee and the Rocky Mountain Chapter members look forward to sharing with you the beauty and grandeur of Colorado and a technical program that exceeds your expectations.
Consider this your “Special Invitation” for you and your family to spend the Labor Day weekend in Colorado. We invite you to “Mine Denver 2002” and enjoy some of the beauty and grandeur of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. You can hike, bike, fish, play urban cowboy at a dude ranch, attend a Colorado Rookies baseball game or enjoy Coloradoís many Narrow Gage Train Adventures. There are also two special events you and your family can take advantage of for the Labor Day weekend, a Monty Carlo CART Race in Denver, and Taste of Colorado. Enjoy the Monty Carlo race with grandstand and pit passes that are now available. You can also attend a local favorite of Coloradoans by attending Taste of Colorado, and “eat your way through the weekend.” Bring all the family and enjoy Colorado. I recommend you spend as much time enjoying Colorado as you can spare. Stay for the exciting 35th International Symposium on Microelectronics in Denver, September 3rd 6th. Then while you Mine Denver 2002 our super Spouse Program will swing into action, taking full advantage of our beautiful September weather, to interest and entertain your family.
We are all fortunate to work in a technology area that drives a significant and increasing portion of the industrial worldís economy. The Symposium is designed to maximize your opportunity to gain knowledge in many areas of advanced microelectronics packaging and system technologies. We encourage you to Mine Denver 2002 Technical Program and Exhibition. We will be highlighting focus areas within the Technical Program throughout the year. The Professional Development Courses at the conference have retained many of the excellent courses offered at IMAPS in the past and we have broadened the program with several New Courses. These courses cover a broad spectrum of microelectronics packaging and system technologies. Leading Manufacturers will be displaying the latest in Materials and Manufacturing Equipment at the Exhibition.

The Awards Ceremony will honor many of the IMAPS members and IMAPS Corporate Members who contributed so much to the Society over many years. We invite and encourage everyone to attend this special recognition ceremony. We owe many of these Individuals and Companies a great deal of thanks for their contributions to the Microelectronics Packaging and System Industries. This is our chance as a Society and as individuals to say “Thanks.”
