GBC Speaker Guidelines

Global Business Council – Spring 2009
IMAPS Mon. March 9, 2009 8am – 5pm
Radisson Fort McDowell Resort  Scottsdale, AZ

1.  Registration:  Speakers at GBC events are provided one complementary registration to attend the GBC event.  Speakers are asked to register prior to the event so that badges can be prepared.  To register, please contact Steve Greene, IMAPS HQ, at or +1 202-548-8711.

2.  Hotel Reservations:  Speakers are responsible for making their own hotel reservation and are responsible for this cost.  When staying at the IMAPS recommended hotel for that event, be sure to reference IMAPS when making your reservation.  Check on the IMAPS website for advance hotel registration deadlines.

3.  Travel Expenses:  IMAPS will not cover any travel expenses. 

4.  Title:  A title for the presentation is due by Jan. 5, 2009 so that it can be incorporated in the advance publicity for the event.

5.  Abstract & Biography:  Your extended abstract (not to exceed 600 words), to be included in the attendee handouts, and a short biography are due Feb 2, 2009.  You can send your black and white extended abstract via e-mail to   Faxed copies are not accepted.  You should use the full page, 8 ½” x 11”, font size 10 or 12. Figures, tables and charts can be included. Transfer of Copyright is not required. Send your abstract as a PDF file, so that it will print exactly the way you see it.

6.  Presentation Format:  An LCD Projector and a laptop computer will be available for your presentation. Please bring PowerPoint or PDF presentation on a USB flash card and IMAPS will provide the rest.

Your presentation needs to be legible in a lecture environment.  Use large font size and don’t try to put too much on each slide.  Make sure all tables, graphs, drawings, videos, etc can be seen from a distance of at least 100 feet/30 meters.

You can use one slide to present a brief overview of yourself and your company, but please remember that this is not a sales presentation. 

As this is a GBC event, please focus on the business aspects of your topic and do not go too deeply into technical issues unless they are specifically tied to a business issue.

7.  CD-ROM:  IMAPS will produce a CD-ROM of all speaker presentations and a final attendee list after the event.  This CD-ROM will be provided free to all paid attendees and all speakers and will be for sale after the event.  If you have provided your presentation to Steve Greene prior to the event, then it will automatically be included in the CD-ROM.  If you have not provided it prior to the event, please hand in an electronic PDF copy (CD or USB flash card) to Steve Greene (or other staff) at the IMAPS registration desk on the morning of the event. PRESENTATIONS NOT RECEIVED PRIOR TO THE EVENT OR ON-SITE WILL NOT BE ON THE CD.
