Senator Ron Wyden Visits CoorsTek Oregon

CoorsTek hosted Senator Wyden at their Hillsboro, Oregon facility on Friday, January 4th

Senator Wyden toured the ceramic manufacturing facility, briefly met with CoorsTek officials, and held a town hall meeting for the employees of CoorsTek Oregon operations. On the tour, the Senator visited manufacturing cells for the facility’s top growth markets including ceramic components for precision optics, semiconductor manufacturing, and body and vehicle armor protection. Several material-based technological innovations in these sectors have boosted demand for ceramic components.

“We are honored to have Senator Wyden visit our facility and thank him for his continued support of us and other high-technology businesses in Oregon,” said Mark Chenoweth, Executive Vice President for CoorsTek.  “During the past 28 years, this location has supplied high-quality technical ceramics to many  industries including semiconductor, optical, paper production, aerospace, and defense,” Chenoweth continued.

AdTech Ceramics' New Chemical Machining Guidelines Now Available

Chattanooga, Tennessee-based AdTech Ceramics, specializing in advanced technical ceramic solutions, has recently published its new Chemical Machining Guidelines.

AdTech manufactures high quality chemically milled products in Kovar, Alloy 42, Stainless and Spring Steel. Additional capabilities include gold plated step lids for seam seal applications, lead frames, seal rings and other applications. Products can be supplied as etched or with Ni/Au plating for seam welding applications.

The Chemical Machining Guidelines data sheet from AdTech includes recommendations for metal thicknesses, standard tolerances, feature placement and spacing, minimum hole or slot tolerances, milled radii outside thicknesses and minimum inside radius thickness, as well as typical material properties.

Michael Auer appointed VP Sales and Customer Support at BESI

BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. (Besi), has appointed Michael Auer as Vice President of its new “BESI Sales and Customer Support” division created as part of the company’s reorganization.

As Head of the newly created organizational unit “Besi Sales and Customer Support”, Michael Auer, who has been responsible for Worldwide Sales at Datacon for the last four years, can crucially improve Besi’s market coverage and customer presence and further strengthen the company’s competitive position.

Before being appointed to his current position, Michael Auer served as Vice President Sales at Datacon Technology GmbH and prior to this as Sales Manager North America/Asia Pacific from December 2001 through September 2004. His first job as a design engineer was for Dornier Composite Aircraft, where he contributed to the “Seastar” aircraft design. Prior to his affiliation with Datacon, Mr. Auer was Department Head for high-energy drying equipment for the paper and printing industries at Adphos AG.

Mr. Auer (born 1964 in Munich, Germany) obtained his mechanical engineering degree from the University of Applied Sciences, Munich.

AIM Announces Regional Sales Manager Personnel Addition

Armando will promote AIM’s full-line of solder assembly materials to existing and potential electronics manufacturers in the Guadalajara, Mexico area. He will also be responsible for managing and coordinating promotional, sales and support activities in this area.

Armando, a Chemical Engineer, brings over eleven years of experience in soldering technologies to AIM.  He has been involved with product implementation, as well as the manufacture and technical support for the full range of SMT products.  Armando has helped improve SMT production yields and solved reliability issues around México.

Indium Corporation Announces New Positions

Indium Corporation announced that four individuals have accepted new responsibilities within the company. All are based at Indium’s global headquarters in Clinton, NY, USA.


Eric Slezak, Director of Business Development, has accepted additional responsibilities as the Director of Assembly Products Business Unit. In this expanded role, Eric will lead the Assembly Products team to new growth opportunities while overseeing staff transitions. Eric will split his time between Indium’s global headquarters and its manufacturing facility in Chicago, IL. Eric joined Indium Corporation in 2005 with over 25 years of experience in the electronics assembly industry. He has an MBA from Northwestern University and earned a BA in Chemistry from the University of Illinois.


Ray Altieri has been named Manager for the Solder Products Business Unit. He is responsible for forecasting and financial analysis of the solder products line including, pricing, negotiation, and planning. This position takes advantage of Ray’s experience and knowledge of the financial complexity of the industry. Ray originally joined Indium in 1987 in Technical Support and returned in 2000. His most recent position was Manager of Solder Paste Products. 


Leo Devine is Indium’s newest Global Accounts Manager. He is responsible for coordinating the sales of all approved product lines, as well as overseeing technical and customer service support for global customers. Leo will also analyze market, product, and technical trends as they relate to Indium’s global account customers. He joined Indium Corporation in 2000. He most recently served as the Manager for Wave Solder and Rework Products where he managed the development and release of new products.


Tim Jensen has been named Product Manager for Solder Products. He is responsible for the development and technical service support of Indium’s full line of solder paste, wave flux, cored wire, bar solder, and epoxy products. He will oversee the hiring and training of new staff, and the development of team skills and knowledgebase to support Indium’s customers worldwide. Tim joined Indium in 1997 and most recently served as the Pb-Free Programs Manager leading Indium’s Pb-free initiatives. Tim has a BA in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University. He has authored technical publications and numerous process and technical guidelines.
