SPEAKER PLANNING INFORMATION
Once you have been selected as a speaker for the 55th International Symposium on Microelectronics, the following information on this speaker planning page will be critical as you plan your paper, presentation, and get ready to join us in Boston in October! We understand that this conference may be new to many of our speakers, so we understand that you may have many questions about the timeline, process, deliverables, and other responsibilities. Please visit this page often for continuing updates, as well as direct email communications from IMAPS staff. Please ensure that all @imaps.org email addresses are whitelisted in your email settings so that you receive timely communications from IMAPS.
What to Expect
Keynotes and Panelists:
Keynotes and Panels will be broadcast as plenary sessions (with all conference attendees together). These speaking roles are INVITED ONLY and our conference committee will reach out to those that will be invited into these positions. Specific instructions will be communicated from IMAPS staff as well.
Technical Presentations in Topical Sessions:
Regular technical presentations will be given in topically organized sessions. These speakers will be required to provide: abstracts, full proceedings paper (4-6+ page paper - copyright exchange and it will undergo peer review), presentation slides (to present and publish post conference -- 20-minutes followed by 5 minutes for questions), a short bio, and to register for the conference at the discounted speaker (or student) rate.
The poster session is planned to be an interactive presentation - held during a pizza lunch. Posters will be available for viewing by attendees during this session only. Poster speakers will prepare their posters in a large poster format or by tacking up their slides on-by-one in sequence. Speakers will be asked to be near their poster for the full session, and will be more interactive with visitors (answering questions, speaker to content, without scheduled start/stop times). These speakers will be required to provide: abstracts, full proceedings paper (4-6+ page paper - copyright exchange and it will undergo peer review), poster (or presentation slides to print and tack up on the poster boards), and to register for the conference at the discounted speaker (or student) rate.
This is a quick-glance resource. To view the full speaker timeline, click here.
Send your proceedings paper for peer review to email@example.com by July 8, 2022. Peer review feedback sent back to authors on/before September 12. Final proceedings paper due not later than September 28.
Click here for details about the papers.
Register for the conference.
All speakers and poster presenters are required to register for the special, discounted "Speaker" rate for this conference or you could be removed from the program listing. Registration now available! Be sure to register this week at https://imaps.org/symposium_registration.php. Speakers must be registered for this Conference, and we recommended registering before you arrive to reduce time spent at the on-site desks.
Exceptions: Student speakers are permitted to select the "Student" registration. Speakers from corporate SPONSOR organizations may also be entitled to a further discounted rate.
Prepare your slides for 20-minute presentation slides (40-minutes for Keynotes) and/or poster materials before October 1, 2022.
Send your biographical materials, including a photo and short biography, by September 14, 2022.
Click here for details about these materials.
Market your participation to your network - any time after you receive your acceptance email notification (and up until the day before your presentation!).
Click here for downloadable logo files and other promotional recommendations.
Keynote speakers, Panelists, and other Speakers - attend speaker/chair morning meeting on the morning of your presentation at the Hynes Convention Center. Details will be provided at a later date via email.
Proceedings Paper / Manuscript (Due July 8, 2022):
Your four- to six-page proceedings paper with text (and tables/graphs as appropriate) is required by JULY 8, 2022. This paper will be put into peer review by our technical committee to give you feedback to make edits, update technical data, and more inputs. A copyright exchange form is also required.
Download the Paper TEMPLATE (right click and SAVE AS to your computer)
The paper should present an unbiased description of a certain method or product, discussing both pros and cons. Both subtle and blatant advertisement of any products or services is in direct conflict with the spirit of the Conference. Examples of the former include repeated references to products or trade names and excessive use of corporate logos and trademarks in graphic illustrations. Photographs of commercial equipment are not permitted unless they add educational value. IMAPS Program Committees desire that all authors and presenters understand unambiguously that overly commercial papers are inappropriate and will not be tolerated; authors are asked to abide by these constraints when preparing their abstracts, papers, and presentations.
The language for the IMAPS events and its publications is English, unless otherwise noted.
Papers can be emailed directly to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Speakers will receive their peer review feedback and instructions on/before September 12.
Speakers must finalize their papers and submit FINAL PAPERS for the proceedings on/before September 28.
All keynote and regular/oral session speakers will have a scheduled presentation time listed in the program with specific start/stop times. Please follow these guidelines as you prepare your presentation slides.
Keynote speakers will have 40 minutes for their presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions.
Regular/oral session speakers will have 20 minutes for their presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions.
These speakers should have their presentations slides ready NO LATER than the day before their scheduled presentation.
Speakers should bring the presentation on USB drive, ideally email the file to email@example.com the night before the scheduled presentation, and to be safe - bring their own laptop with the slides just in case! Attend the speaker/chair breakfast meeting the day of your session. Be sure to meet your chair(s). Arrive to your session at least 15-30 minutes early with your USB and transfer your presentation and TEST each slide. AV technicians will be there if you need technical support.
The preferred format for speaker presentations is POWERPOINT. Adobe PDFs are acceptable as well, but limited and not suggested.
There is NO CONFERENCE TEMPLATE required. IMAPS does encourage and thank you for including the conference logo and show details in your title slide/template though.
Be sure to test your slides thoroughly, including any videos, animations or external links. And be sure to REHEARSE so you have your presentation timing down!
The session rooms will be equipped with a laptop, projector, screen, microphone and all that you need for a successful presentation.
Be sure to submit your bios right away, and meet your session chairs before the session begins. Please alert your chairs and IMAPS staff of any changes to speakers, presentation topic, or problems you might be experiencing.
A speaker bio and headshot photo will be available to attendees on the event website. Please prepare the following for submission to IMAPS at firstname.lastname@example.org on/before September 14, 2022.
2-3 sentences about current position, background, and/or education
Recommended .jpeg file type
The poster session is planned to be an interactive presentation in our Poster Session & Pizza Lunch.
See below for poster specifications:
Posters will be available for viewing by attendees during this interative session only.
Poster speakers will prepare their posters in a large poster format or by tacking up their slides on-by-one in sequence.
Speakers will be asked to be near their poster for the full session, and will be more interactive with visitors (answering questions, speaker to content, without scheduled start/stop times).
Poster setup will be roughly 1 hour prior to the start of the Poster Session. Boards will be available on a first-come-first-served basis, so speakers can setup on whichever board they like that is available. The boards will be roughly 4ft tall x 8ft wide. Be sure your posters or slide printouts do not exceed this space. There will be one board for all scheduled poster speakers, and tacks will be provided as well.
These speakers will be required to provide: abstracts, proceedings paper (peer reviewed and copyright exchange - see PAPER details above), poster (or presentation slides to print and tack up on the poster boards), and to register for the conference at the discounted speaker (or student) rate.
Further details and instructions will be provided soon.
